What to do when HR does not respond? ›

When HR disregards your complaints, be sure to file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EEOC may investigate your employer and seek evidence, and may even recommend mediation so a resolution can be reached with the assistance of an objective third party.

What to answer to HR? ›

Cover what you have accomplished in your career and what work you have done in the past which can help you excel in the position that you are being interviewed for. You can also tell why you want the position and how the job is going to be perfect for you. Focus only on your strengths that are relatable to the work.

Why would HR want to call me? ›

HR may ask to meet with you if your employer is offering you a bonus or promotion or if they have to decrease your pay or offer you a lower pension. HR may also ask to meet with you to explain any upcoming changes to overtime pay, paid time off, paid holidays or extended leave policies.

Should you tell HR everything? ›

The general rule is don't bring your everyday complaints to HR. They're not there to make your job better or easier and they might fire you simply because they don't want to hear it. This is usually legal.

If you've received no response after a job interview (and you didn't hear back even after you followed up on your job application), it's safe to assume that you didn't get the position and should keep interviewing with other companies.

How long should I wait for HR to reply? ›

It's a good idea to ask during the interview about when you should expect to hear from them and take it from there. As a rule of thumb, following up within a week is perfectly acceptable. If you don't hear back after an additional week, you can reach out again.

How long does HR have to respond? ›

The length of time that HR takes to investigate complaints will depend on a few factors. These include the nature of the complaint, the company and the HR department. In most cases, complaints will be investigated within 3 days to a week. In some cases, it will take longer for HR to conclude their investigation.
