KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Parades, concerts and fireworks, oh my!

Festivities will be held throughout the Kansas City area to celebrate Independence Day. The following is a list of community events throughout the metro and surrounding areas. If you want to shoot off your own fireworks, check to make sure it’s legal here.

KANSAS

  • Atchison - 72 lions Club Community Fireworks Show- July 5
    • The fireworks show begins 20-40 minutes after sunset and will take place at Warnock Lake.
  • Basehor - Red, White & Boom! Independence Day Celebration- July 4
    • Food trucks will start at 6 p.m. and a fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m. at the Field of Dreams Sports Complex.
  • De Soto - 4th of July celebration- July 4
    • Riverfest Park will have vendors and music beginning at 7 p.m. The Fireworks Display begins at 9:45 p.m.
  • Fort Leavenworth - 4th of July Celebration- July 4
    • The annual 4th of July Celebration at Merritt Lake beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free and food, beverages and kids activities are available for purchase. a fireworks show will start at dusk.
  • Gardner - Independence Day Festival- July 4
    • This year’s celebration will take place at 5 p.m. with the fireworks beginning at 10 p.m. at Celebration Park. The festival will feature two well-known country music artists: Morgan Evans and George Birge. Another music guest is Big Time Grain Company. Various food vendors and activities will be in attendance.
  • Kansas City - Fireworks in the Park- July 2
    • The fireworks show will take place at 9:45 p.m. at Pierson park. Once all parking lots are full, entrance to the park will be denied. Entrance to the park will close at 9:30 p.m.
  • Leawood - Celebration in the Park- July 4
    • The City of Leawood is excited to celebrate the 4th of July all day long at Leawood City Park. The aquatic center will be open from noon to 6 p.m. After, the celebration starts with activities, entertainment and food trucks are available from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Music by Twice on Sunday begins at 7 p.m. and a fireworks displace will begin roughly around 9:45 p.m.
  • Lenexa - Paw-triotic Pet Parade- June 29
    • The pet parade at the Lenexa Public Market begins at 11 a.m., with pet vendors and sponsors beginning at 9 a.m.
  • Lenexa - Freedom Run- July 4
    • The Freedom Run has options for a 5k or 10k in Old Town Lenexa beginning at 7 a.m.
  • Lenexa - Community Days Parade- July 4
    • The hometown tradition begins at Sante Fe Trail Drive and Park Street from 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Louisburg - Freedom Fest- July 4
    • The Freedom Fest is the annual Independence Day celebration at Lewis-Young park from 6 to 10:30 p.m.
  • Olathe - July 4th Fireworks Display- July 4
    • The annual display will take place from 9:45 to 10:15 p.m. at the College Boulevard Activity Center.
  • Overland Park - Star Spangled Spectacular- July 4
    • An evening of concerts and food that ends with fireworks at Corporate Woods Founders’ Park from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Food trucks open at 5 p.m. and fireworks begin at 10:05 p.m. Parking is available in any open parking lot at Corporate Woods. In case of rain, the fireworks display will occur on July 5.
  • Prairie Village - VillageFest- July 4
    • Activities and events will take place all day at 7700 Mission Road and 77th Street. Breakfast with Chris Cakes begins at 7:30 a.m. and will go until 11 a.m. A patriotic ceremony will begin at 8:30, and other activities will occur from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Roeland Park with Fairway and Westwood - 3rd of July Fireworks- July 3
    • Roeland Park has joined Fairway and Westwood for a joint fireworks show on July 3. The show will take place at Bishop Miege beginning around 9:45 p.m.
  • Shawnee - Freedom Fling- July 4
    • The Thomas Anthony Soetart Aquatic Center will have games at each pool beginning at 1 p.m. along with a soda pop drop.

MISSOURI

  • Blue Springs - Red, White and Blue Springs- July 3
    • Gates open to Blue Springs South High School atLarry Stewart Memorial Stadium and Young Park at 3 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. The event will have live music, an adult zone, kids zone and family zone each with games and activities.
  • Clay County/Smithville - Smithville Fireworks Show- July 4
    • The fireworks show at Smith’s Fork Park will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m. An ice cream bar will be available near the baseball fields.
  • Gladstone - Independence Day Celebration- July 4
    • The celebration kicks off at 7 p.m. at Oak Grove Park. Fireworks will begin at dusk and concessions will be available.
  • Grain Valley - Celebrate America Foam Party- July 5
    • Celebrate America with food trucks and a foam party from 5 to 8 p.m. in Downtown Grain Valley
  • Jackson County - Independence Day- July 4
    • Events will be happening all day long at the Missouri Town Living History Museum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include dancing, games and speeches along with a parade at 12 p.m.
  • Kansas City - Stars and Stripes Picnic- July 4
    • Kansas City’s official Independence Day celebration will be from 3 to 10 p.m. Live music will play throughout the event, and you can watch the largest fireworks display in the city. This event will occur rain or shine.
  • Kansas City - Ward Parkway Four on the 4th- July 4
    • A four-mile or four-kilometer race along Ward Parkway will take place beginning at 7:30 a.m. The Little Firecracker Kids Fun Run will begin at 7:10 a.m. The race both starts and ends at the Ward Parkway Pavilion.
  • Kansas City - Worlds of Fun Star-Spangled Night- July 4
    • The fireworks spectacular is Kansas City’s premier patriotic fireworks show synchronized with patriotic tunes.
  • Kearney - Kearney Fireworks Celebration Ft. Funk Syndicate- July 3
    • The Kearney Amphitheater is hosting is Independence Day celebration beginning at 5 p.m. The concert featuring Funk Syndicate begins at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks following at 9:30 p.m. Free inflatable toys for children are from 5 to 8:30 p.m., along with free cotton candy at the Amphitheater.
  • Lee’s Summit - Legacy Blast- July 3
    • Gates open at 6 p.m. to Legacy Park for the annual free fireworks celebration. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. and will sync up to music on 94.9 KCMO. The sports fields will have DJs, snacks, food trucks, face paintings, balloon artists and more. If there is rain, the event will occur on July 5.
  • Liberty - Liberty Fest- July 3
    • Celebrate Independence Day with family in friends from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at the Capitol Federal Sports Complex of Liberty. Food trucks, activities will begin at 6 p.m., followed by live music by LOST WAX at 8 p.m. and the fireworks display will close out the night beginning at 10 p.m.
  • Parkville - U.S. of YAY!- July 4
    • The annual Independence day celebration includes a pancake breakfast, food and fun at Historic Downtown Parkville. The parade will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m.
  • Platte City - 4th of July- July 4
    • Celebrate the Fourth of July on Main Street between 2nd and 4th Street from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Various food and treats and activities will be at the event.
  • Raymore - Spirit of America Celebration- June 28
    • Raymore Recreation Park will be having a celebration starting at 6 p.m. with live music, food trucks, vendors and various activities. The fireworks show begins at dusk
  • St. Joseph - 4th of July Fireworks- July 4
    • Fireworks at the YMCA of St. Joseph will begin 15 minutes after dark and is currently schedule around 9:30. Viewing areas include the North Shoppes parking lots with primary viewing at the YMCA, Green Acres, Regal Hollywood Theater, and Kohl’s. Food trucks and drink vendors will not be in attendance, viewers may bring their own food and drinks if they would like.
